cotton is threatening to push to higher prices based on monthly chart !

weekly chart is a sell off. thats ok for tjl and mgt.

will this push the foreigners to sell towards the support.

TJL should be a HOLD in whatever circumstances with opportunity to Average further.
Yes Monthly Cotton Prices might test to break above recent Highs.
But Weekly chart on cotton is a sell off.
Already cotton prices down 11% from its highs.

CT CLSA - Teejay Lanka (TJL) 3Q18 Results Update - 12 February 2018 (TJL - Rs.34.7)

TJL reported a 3Q18 net profit of Rs.496mn (+5% YoY – first YoY growth since 2Q17 and +34% QoQ), below our expectations, amid lower than anticipated capacity utilisation levels in recently commissioned Indian operations. YoY earnings growth driven by a steady order book in local operations, backed by GSP+ concession-led volumes filtering through. Consequently, 1-3Q18 net profit down -26% YoY to Rs.1,083mn, owing to weak earnings performances in 1H18.

Outlook & Valuations:

TJL’s net profit forecast revised down by -12% to Rs.1,521mn for FY18E (-22% YoY), owing to a delay in Indian operations reaching intended capacity utilisation levels, coupled with a downward revision in GP margin expectations. FY19E net profit forecast revised down by -17% to Rs.2,044mn (+34% YoY, off a low base), with prevailing high global cotton prices expected to impact margins in 1H19E

The TJL share has underperformed the broader market, declining -12% over the past twelve months (vs. the ASI’s rise of +7%), and fell to a 20-month low of Rs.34.0 on 29 December 2017. Based on current forecasts, TJL trades at forward PER multiples of 16.0X for FY18E and 11.9X for FY19E, offering 5-7% dividend yields

Continued margin pressure witnessed in recent quarters have highlighted TJL’s increased sensitivity to externalities, especially cotton price volatility. Therefore, the share’s near term multiples seem to be at a relative premium, notwithstanding GSP+ concession benefits. Medium to longer term investors may however continue to favour TJL, owing to greater earnings potential resulting from its recently completed inorganic expansion, a continued focus of developing higher margin synthetic products and initiatives taken to diversify its customer base

Further, TJL has indicated that it may look to implement several upward price revisions in an attempt to limit margin erosion. Such price revisions, if able to effectively pass on high cotton prices, could warrant a potential upward forecast revision and re-rating of the share

Looks like a good support can be expected closer to 30 level hence recommended to wait a bit before deciding to average out.

yes. those who average at 35 must seek averaging between 33.50-30 max. tjl in extreme sold and macd positive divergence is appearing thats positive, which means to say the selling is coming from very low qtys...... whilst price declining at much higher level though. so good for accumulators. as the price sliders will stop at strategic support levels say 33.50 32.50 or 30

TJL will look at ways and means of having managed raw material price as well as stable markets for revenue. If they can succeed then that would be the game changer.
