Good discussion guys.

Just wondering whether selling of an asset at a good price (Land in most recent cases) is what is needed to shoot the share price up :)) ex: Hexp, FLCH (of course their share price had fallen in a big way before their sale happened).

That's true Sashimal. Investors react so good nowadays when they hear that one company has sold some assets. :(( .

I have travelled with all the three shares that you have mentioned.

That is a big plus factor to consider.

Yap. BW It is assured minimum profit they could get even without a proper investment.
That's why I was worried about mere Rs0.34. ;) ;)
Thanks for putting things in to perspective.

A 5 yr analysis of CSD

Their EPS as well as DPS is growing YoY. Further they are cautiously keeping the DPS within the cash earnings because last few years the EPS has been boosted by yearly recognition of fair value gains in the P&L.
CSD chart 1.jpg

However the NAV and the share price looks concrete during the last three years after the leap frog price increase in 2014.
CSD chart 2.jpg

The result is we could see a constantly rising DY for this stock.
CSD chart 3.jpg

So the next year we can definitely expect a higher DPS may be 90 cents or 1 rupee.

Thanks BW for enlightening us on the EPS. Also a big thanks to everyone else for the fruitful discussion. There is no argument that CSD has potential for an upward trend. I have been following this forum for few months and really impressed with the great work done by everyone. Keep up the great work guys.

I happen to glance through the CSD chart, seems to be a good pick technically even. Look at the trading range (red lines: 13.00 - 14.50) breakout and trend line (green) breakout in below chart. (I can't post any charts here)

http://imgur.com/a/NzuGH

with this land deal adding EPS of 0.34 and provided that they invest this to get a minimum 0.80 as calculated by BW, this looks a pretty good share in mid term. So I don't see why It should not reach 16.7 previous high as the next resistance. With this deal it's current valuation stands around 21.

Land and property shares are in demand these days and have started moving only the last couple of days. Even YORK & ASCO started its movements last couple of days. So with a PBV of 1 for the sector and CSD only having 0.5 PBV its a pity that it didn't move till yesterday. So it's time for CSD to move. Also we should keep in mind, this is one share that did not reach its fair value in recent times.

Very true Stock and really appreciate your inputs here. As you said I also see a huge unidentified value in CSD and hope that investors will discover that now and made the necessary amendments quickly. :D

Well the bears tried to push it to 14.5 but the buying interest kept the buying orders coming and finally the Bulls won pushing it to 15 before the close of the day. This is a real good sign... Let's see how it goes today

Technically it's still a good buy and giving an opportunity for those who couldn't get in around 15 levels

In their annual report, chairman has said about kataragama property....the Board decided to dispose the property. The sale had been finalized after due tender procedures and the transaction is due to be completed before 31.03.2017....

Any one know what happen to this.

He further says.... The funds expected from the sale proceeds of Kataragama and Union Place Properties will be invested judiciously to
generate interest income. The Company is considering several proposals for further investment

"From mid December 2014, the Kataragama bungalow was rented to pilgrims. Rooms are also rented to Seylan Bank Staff members at concessionary rates to spend their vacation in the Holy City. The company could not achieve satisfactory occupancy rate, in spite of campaigning, except for week-ends, festival periods and period of school holidays. As such break-even revenue could not be attained during the first nine months of 2016. Hence the Board decided to dispose the property. The sale had been finalized after due tender procedures and the transaction is due to be completed before 31.03.2017." From AR 2016

TC, market value of the property is just around 26 Mn. Not sure the sale has happened already as it is a transaction of small value and therefore may not require an exchange announcement.

Based on the balance sheet as at 31 Mar 2017, there is no asset held for sale other than the Union place property. So probably the Kataragama property has been sold already.

After hitting 15.50 and came down to 14.50 a slow but steady accumulation happens till 15/- and now stepping up the gas to reach 15.30. I see this time CSD will try to test the 52W high.

Monthly chart:
16 is a Res and there's ascending triangle range from 9 to 16. Plus nice harmonic pattern.
Support around 13.
Disc: This's NOT a buy/sell recommendation
